Ford F100 Just could be the next Gen 3 Ford Lightning in 2012
The all new 2012 Ford Lightning platform just might be the new F-100, a slightly smaller version of its big F-150 brother.
Well it would make sense, since Ford stated that the Ranger is to stop production in 2009. Ford knowing this would create a gap is creating two new trucks to fill the void. Although not solid, the F100 is a likely name and prototypes have already been spotted and it is going to be a great new truck. The F100 is not going to just be a rebadged ranger. The 2012 F100 will be a whole new truck with a bigger personality.
Although it is just speculation right now, the new F100 is the perfect foundation for the new Gen 3 2012 Lightning. While it is still a possibility Ford will use the current f150 platform for the new Gen 3 2010 Lightning, but because of its Super Duty size and weight, $4.00 gas prices might be the clincher. It would not be a good idea to have a 500HP truck that is actually slower than the Gen 2 Lightning’s... Does the SRT10 Ram sound familiar? The new 2012 F100 would be the perfect foundation, as it is now only lighter is about the same dimensions as the Gen 2 Lightning which seems to be the perfect size for a super truck.
