The all new 2012 Ford Lightning, well maybe not, but real close.
With the new 2012s F-150s hitting the showroom floor, our pride and joy the Ford Lighting is still in hiatus. Don't fret; although we don't have our SVT Lightning back, we do have the 5.0L Coyote powered F-150 and the new 3.5L Eco boosted flagship modle. Although both engines displacements are smaller than we had hoped for in the F-150, both have promise and both make 400+ Stock.
We have all seen what the 5.0L can do in the new Mustang GT and how it annihilates everything in the new Boss 302; the real showstopper is actually the 3.5L Ecoboost. Like the beloved 5.4L Supercharged 2V engine, some minor tweaks and tune and you are looking at over 500 horsepower utilizing all the stock components. Not bad at all. Now put this engine in a single cab, and you have a 2012 Ford SVT Lighting with 1/4 mile ETsin the high 12s.
I have not heard much more about the new Ford Rangerreplacement F-100, but I can only imagine how much fun a smaller truck with a tuned 3.5L Ecoboost would be.
Well, this is all the info we have at the moment, but when I return from this years big event, I hopefully will have some more info on Ford's new truck lineup for 2012.
